Infiniti FX35 vs Lincoln MKZ 02/15/2011
High-end luxury crossovers are some of the most popular vehicles available on the market today, so buyers will have a wide range of options to choose from when it comes time to select a model.

Two models that may catch car shoppers' eyes are the Infiniti FX35 and the Lincoln MKX. To help make the process a bit easier, we stacked these two SUVs up against each other to see which one was the better value.

The MKX starts as the cheaper of the two models, with a price tag of $39,375. Nearly $4,000 more expensive, the FX35 has some significant ground to make up with a starting sticker of $42,850.

Despite the massive gulf in price, the MKX is actually the better performing vehicle. Horsepower is nearly equal between the two, with Lincoln offering 305 and Infiniti 303. The MKX then gains a slight edge in torque, with 280 lb-ft compared to 262 on the FX. Yet despite the performance boost, the MKX gets significantly better gas mileage, with an extra 3 mpgs in both city and highway.

With a loss in the mechanical column, the FX35 would need a big win in interior features to justify its price tag. Yet while the FX35 boasts a built-in hard drive and premium sound system, the MKX holds its own with the Ford SYNC system and heated seats standard, ultimately making it the better buy.
