Infiniti FX35 vs Acura MDX 02/23/2011
The Infiniti FX35 and Acura MDX are two closely matched high-end luxury SUVs that drivers might have a tough time choosing between at first glance. So which is ultimately the better buy?
The FX35 begins with a price tag of $42,850, while the MDX comes in at $42,580. Both vehicles offer drivers a 6 year/70,000 mile warranty.
The two cars are closely matched in terms of performance, but one of the big differences is that the MDX comes with all-wheel drive standard, while the FX35 is rear-wheel drive. Both styles have their strengths and weaknesses, but we tend to prefer the versatility of the all-wheel drive system. In terms of hard numbers, the FX35 narrowly wins on horsepower, 303 to 300, while the MDX offers more torque, 270 lb-ft to 262.
Infiniti really wins out on the interior. The sole feature that Acura can boast is heated seats. Yet the FX35 comes with a built-in hard drive, keyless ignition and an iPod dock. Even better, the company offers a range of features as a la carte options, including rear seat DVD, parking assistance and a navigation system.
If drivers simply have to have all-wheel drive, the MDX is a solid choice. But we ultimately feel that the FX35's interior makes it more valuable.
