Hyundai Veracruz vs Dodge Durango 04/20/2011
There are a wide range of SUVs on the market, but it seems that nearly every company has a model in the $29,000 range. To help make shopping this segment just a bit easier, we compared the Hyundai Veracruz and Dodge Durango side-by-side to see which offered drivers the better value.
Dodge prices the Durango at $29,195, making it significantly more expensive than the Veracruz at $28,345. Besides its low price, Hyundai's vehicle makes a better case for itself with a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, while the Dodge only features a 5 year/100,000 mile plan.
The Durango wins under the hood with 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Yet the Veracruz is no slouch by any means, producing 260 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is even between the two models.
Hyundai really seals the deal with its plush interior. The Dodge Durango does have dual climate control, which is definitely a nice feature, but the Veracruz offers heated seats, parking assist and power seats all standard.
Overall, we give the nod to the Veracruz. It offers the better price tag, warranty and features, while not losing too badly in the performance department.
