Hot cars from the New York International Auto Show 04/25/2011
Shopping for new cars is great, but what's even more fun is scouting all the vehicles that are coming up in the future. The recent New York International Auto Show gave everyone a chance to see what the major automakers have in store for drivers over the next few years. Here are a few of the models that piqued our interest.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8

This looks like a bit of an unorthodox design decision. Auto fans probably recognize both the Grand Cherokee and SRT-8 monikers - but as separate entities. The Grand Cherokee is a best-selling SUV, while the SRT-8 is typically used to denote the high-performance packages on some Chrysler models, like the Dodge Challenger. Putting the two together results in a full-size SUV that can go from zero to sixty in less than five seconds, all while producing a monstrous 465 horsepower.

Volkswagen New Beetle

It should be called the "New" New Beetle, as this is an updated version of the modern take on the classic Beetle. Volkswagen's theme with this new iteration is "less flower, more power," and it shows, with increased horsepower and fuel economy. The classic design is still there, although it's not quite as cutesy as the previous version, slightly longer and less round.

Lexus LF-Gh Concept

This one is likely not to see mass production, but it's definitely eye-catching. Lexus' take on a hybrid is a glimpse into the future not only of the company's green offerings, but their all-important GS sedan line. The concept wowed showgoers with its aggressive lines and dazzling front grille, looking more like a Bentley than a typical Lexus. You might not ever get to drive this stylish machine, but it's a safe bet that the upcoming GS redesign will take some design cues from it.
