Honda could be getting back to its racing roots 05/17/2011
In an effort to reach out to younger generations and racing enthusiasts, car companies typically shell out models that not only have a sporty look, but also have a need for speed. Honda appears to be returning to its roots for sports cars, as some automotive analysts are predicting that there are a lot of models in the works that are sure to have racing qualities.

Following the announcement that Honda had plans to release a V8 HSV-010 race car, many people were stunned. Motor Trend Magazine reports that the company's chief executive officer (CEO) Takanobu Ito was referring to the NSX, which was a project that was halted a number of years ago. Still, the company has plans to bring it back, and its luxury branch Acura is planning to launch a number of sporty cars in the near future.

Although the earthquake and tsunami in Japan may have set production back a bit, company executives are suggesting that plans are not dead and that the NSX and the newest Acura RSX will be something people will be talking about soon.

According to Motor Authority, the NSX will be in hybrid form but there are no plans for the RSX to follow suit in the environmentally friendly plans. The news provider reports that the RSX will share the new Civic Si's 2.4-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with an aerodynamic exterior that comes with sharp edges.

Those who like to go fast may want to keep up on these developments, as it could mean big things for the Japanese automaker in the coming years. For now we'll just have to wait and see with these teasers.
