GMC Acadia vs Volvo XC60  04/12/2011
With the minivan market shrinking, many families are instead turning to SUVs and crossovers as their "people mover" of choice. There are quite a few models available on the market, and some can be a bit expensive. So how do drivers know they're getting good value? To help make the process of buying an SUV or crossover easier, we compared two popular models, the Volvo XC60 and GMC Acadia, side-by-side to see which offered more bang for the buck.

The Volvo XC60 retails for $32,400, slightly more expensive than the Acadia at $31,840. GMC offers the superior warranty at 5 years/100,000 miles, while the XC60 only extends to 60,000 miles.

Under the hood, the Acadia is the superior vehicles, boasting a V6 engine that produces 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The XC60 only gets 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. Volvo's model does get an extra mpg on both city and highway, however.

That said, we greatly prefer the interior on the XC60, as it comes with dual climate control, Bluetooth, HD radio, power seats and an iPod hookup. Most of the options for the Acadia are only available on higher trim levels.

This is a tough call, but we ultimately give the edge to the XC60. It doesn't lose out too much on power and it offers a bevy of features that the Acadia can't really match.
