Float like a butterfly, sting like the new Dodge Charger Super Bee 05/09/2011
Chrysler has announced a number of interesting new trim levels for three of its vehicles, with the company clearly keeping an eye out for styling considerations as it looks to bounce back from the economic recession.
First up is the return of the Dodge Charger Super Bee. This isn't some kind of play on words or allusion to more horsepower - nope, the car is just made to look like a giant bee. Dodge already offered a version of the Super Bee on the previous Charger SRT8, and now it looks like the trim level will be making a comeback. Drivers can expect a yellow paint job with black stripes as well as special Super Bee badging and insignia. This certainly looks like a model that everyone will be buzzing about when it drops later this year.
Another model getting a special trim level is the new Fiat 500. The 500 is an important car for Chrysler as it marks the return to the U.S. of Chrysler's new parent company, Fiat. It's marketed as a budget car, but drivers will be able to experience the high-end lifestyle with the special Gucci trim. Partnering with Gucci makes sense giving Fiat's Italian heritage, and they really went all out for this model: seats made of fine leather, a unique paint job and Gucci badging everywhere.
The company also included the Jeep Wrangler Mojave, although the car was already revealed at the New York Auto Show. Essentially, this is a normal Wrangler with a few changes on the inside as well as a unique desert paint job.
Lest you think Chrysler is all style and no substance, however, they also announced a few changes on the performance front. The Wrangler is switching over to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which has been well-received when used on other Chrysler models.
