Fiat and Gucci team up to create improve a classic car 03/01/2011
Italian car company Fiat and luxury fashion house Gucci will combine forces to create a special edition of the classic Fiat 500, according to Edmunds Inside Line.
Gucci will infuse its design aesthetic with the iconic 500 model. The vehicle will come in two colors glossy pearl and black and will both will have Gucci’s trademark green and red stripe, which will be painted on the exterior of the car. The classic signature will also be found on the seats, gearshift, carpet and seatbelt, the news source reported.
"When the Fiat 500 first hit the road in the 1950s, it created a style revolution," Gucci's Creative Director, Frida Gianinni, said in a statement. "Gucci's history has always been about traveling in style so when this collaboration came up, it struck me as the perfect opportunity to create a new modern travel statement."
The vehicle will be displayed at the Geneva Auto Show on March 1, as well as on opening day of Milan Fashion Week. The two brands are working together to honor the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and Gucci’s 90th anniversary.
