The Dodge Ram and Toyota Tundra are two of America's most iconic trucks, but which one is truly the best?
With no price difference (well, the Tundra costs $35 more) at a steady $29k, comparisons will have to begin under the hood.
Dodge Ram packs a 4.7-liter V-8 engine that gets 310 horsepower and 330 ft-lbs of torque with a 5-speed automatic transmissions. It gets low fuel economy (although maybe not for a truck) at 14/19 mpgs city/highway.
In truth, the Tundra doesn't get much better gas mileage, earning just one more mpg than the Ram. The truck's 4.6-liter V-8 engine manages 310 horses and 327 ft-lb of torque and operates on a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
Both cars have the same standard safety features, seat six people and neither one has frilly luxury dashboard technologies.
So far both cars seem to be fairly similar, the biggest difference being the transmission, but when it comes to maximum towing capacity, the Dodge Ram speeds off leaving the Toyota Tundra in the cold. The Ram pulls 10,200 lbs, while the Tundra can only handle 8,100lbs.
Dodge Ram wins based on what it was built to do: carry a heavy load.
