Dodge Durango vs Toyota 4Runner 04/20/2011
Many drivers have flocked to fuel-efficient crossovers in recent years, but some still prefer the massive space and off-roading capabilities offered by dedicated SUVs. The Toyota 4Runner and Dodge Durango are two prime examples of these type of vehicles, so we put them head-to-head to see which offered drivers more bang for their buck.

Toyota prices the 4Runner at $29,705, while the Dodge Durango retails for the lower price of $29,195. Dodge offers the better warranty at 5 years/100,000 miles, while the 4Runner's powertrain pledge lasts for the same amount of years but just 60,000 miles.

In terms of performance, the Durango wins on pure horsepower at 290 compared to the 4Runner's 270. However, the Toyota has slightly more torque at 278 lb-ft than the Durango at 260. Both come with automatic transmissions, although Toyota's is shiftable while the Durango's is not. However, the Dodge accepts E85 flex-fuel, which can be a nice option for fans of the alternative fuel source.

On the inside, the Durango offers dual climate control, while the Toyota makes things a bit easier for city drivers with parking assistance.

In the end, this is a very close call. We ultimately give it to the Durango, as it's the cheaper of the two and boasts a better warranty while matching the 4Runner on most other features.
