Cars with the best resale value 04/29/2011
One important factor that many buyers overlook when they purchase a vehicle is the car's resale value. It might seem like you're getting a great deal now, but if your car depreciates immediately, you'll be stuck with a nigh-worthless hunk of junk in a few years.
Conversely, if you choose a model with great resale value, you'll be able to save a bunch of money when you eventually decide to trade it in. If you're the type who likes to get a new car every few years, resale value is something that you should definitely pay attention to.
Here are a few of the models with the best resale value, as highlighted by the used car pricing guide Kelley Blue Book (KBB).
Subaru Outback
Honda or Toyota typically tops KBB's list when it comes to resale value, but this year, it was Subaru that was named as the best overall brand. The automaker's Outback wagon also made the guide's top ten for resale value. This car is the perfect choice for weekend warriors and off-roaders, and you'll be able to take it on quite a few trips while still scoring a great deal when you eventually trade it in.
Lexus RX
This sporty luxury crossover is a favorite for both the soccer mom and the off-roader. The model was redesigned for the 2011 model year, and KBB predicts it will hold its value well thanks to sharp styling and a bevy of available features.
Honda CR-V
It's hard to see this car ever going out of style, as the CR-V is an annual entrant on the best resale value list. This model is built like an SUV but offers drivers all the features of a compact, with excellent fuel economy. The CR-V simply screams value, so it's not hard to understand why the car retains it year after year.
