Cadillac's new Ciel concept is practically a spa on wheels. 08/25/2011
Cadillac unveiled its latest concept car at last weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and the Ciel convertible got quite a bit of attention. Motor Trend reports that Jay Leno even spoke with General Motors' design boss Ed Welburn about the new car for the next episode of his show, Jay Leno's Garage.

The Ciel, which means sky in French, has a stunning exterior with sleek, bold vertical headlights and massive 22-inch wheels. The concept car is fitted with twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 engine that gets a whopping 425 horsepower, and happens to be a hybrid as well, according to the AutoBlog.

While the body of the car catches the eye, the interior is the best part. The Ciel is equipped with four individual bucket seats that have built-in blankets so you can keep the top down after the sun sets and still enjoy the convertible without the chill of night air. The news source also reports that the armrests are equipped with aromatherapy controls, and the car comes with a drawer that contains sunscreen, sunglasses and a towel, to keep your skin safe from the sun while you cruise. Cadillac also does away with the need for an outlet to charge your electronics and replaced it with an inductive charging surface built right in to the dash.

"You need a flagship in your portfolio to be successful in the luxury market today," Clay Dean, Cadillac's lead designer, told MSNBC News.

The concept car has yet to be approved for production, but GM has given Cadillac the green light on a number of other models. Cadillac has gone down a few pegs in the luxury market, but the company hopes to restore its reputation with the introduction of these new models, MSNBC states.
