Cadillac to introduce a few new cars to its lineup next year 09/12/2011
Cadillac has been making a lot of noise lately, unveiling new and concept cars in an attempt to get back to the top of the luxury market. General Motors is trying to boost sales and consumer interest in the luxury sector by introducing new vehicles that can compete with the expanded line-ups of BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
"We do have this residual positive sentiment, but the fact is that we're not relevant for many consumers," Cadillac's general marketing manager, Don Butler, told Autocar.
The San Fernando Valley Sun reports that the XTS full-size sedan and the company's new compact car, codenamed ATS, are expected to hit the showroom floor in 2012, but that's not all GM has up their sleeves. They are also working on a production version of the Converj concept, which is a luxury variation of the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt.
The latest buzz indicates that the Ciel may be destined for production as well, according to British car magazine Autocar. The project, also known as Omega, is expected to be green-lighted by the end of this year because it was so well-received in Pebble Beach, and with four individual bucket seats, blankets for each passenger and aromatherapy controls in the arm rests, who wouldn't love the concept?
The news sources claims that Cadillac needs a super-premium model to once again live up to its slogan - "standard of the world," but don't expect to see every amenity included in the concept. If the production car is not made as a convertible at first, there won't be much need for blanket storage compartments.
