Cadillac SRX vs Volvo XC60 02/25/2011
Drivers in the market for a mid-range crossover will have plenty of options from a variety of automakers. We compared two of the more attractive options, the Cadillac SRX and Volvo XC60, to see which was the better value.
The $33,830 SRX starts out slight more expensive than the $32,400 XC60. However, Cadillac makes up some ground with its lengthier powertrain warranty, which covers 5 years/100,000 miles rather than the 5 years/60,000 miles offered by Volvo.
Both cars feature six-cylinder engines, although the SRX goes for the V6 while the XC60 opts for an inline configuration. That means that the SRX ends up producing 265 horsepower as compared to the XC60's 240 horsepower. However, the XC60 ends up getting better torque, with 236 lb-ft compared to the Cadillac's 223 lb-ft.
Inside, the XC60 has significantly better features, with Bluetooth connectivity, an iPod dock and HD radio. In addition, most extra features are available as single options, while the SRX forces drivers to buy them as a package as part of a more expensive trim level.
All that adds up to a win for the XC60, as it offers drivers better value for the money.
