Cadillac SRX vs Infiniti EX35 01/03/2011
The world of luxury crossovers is getting increasingly crowded, as automakers have discovered that there's a large market for these versatile and upscale vehicles. Two of the competitors - the Cadillac SRX and Infiniti EX35 - are priced within $30 of each other. We delved into their specs to determine which is truly the better buy.
Despite being close in price, drivers who want performance out of their crossover are going to initially gravitate to the EX35. Boasting a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of nearly 300 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, the vehicle flat-out spanks the SRX's 265 hp/223 lb-ft numbers. The SRX holds a slight edge in fuel economy, but one extra mpg on the highway and city is not enough of a trade for the increased power of the EX35.
SRX features GM's OnStar on the inside, although it requires a subscription to be truly useful. The EX35, meanwhile, features standard iPod integration and keyless ignition, while matching all of the SRX's features
In terms of warranty, the SRX's powertrain is covered for 5 years or 100,000 miles, while the EX35 is covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Since most drivers don't crack 12,000 miles per year, the EX35's extra year is more valuable than the extra 30,000 miles on the SRX in most cases.
All of that combined makes the EX35 the clear winner.
