Cadillac Escalade vs Toyota Land Cruiser 03/29/2011
When it comes to huge SUVs with all the trimmings, it doesn't get much better than the Cadillac Escalade and Toyota Land Cruiser. We recently stacked these two vehicles up side-by-side to see which offered drivers the better value.

Both of these vehicles are pricey, but the Land Cruiser is slightly more so at $68,020 compared to the Cadillac at $63,160. The Escalade's warranty is slightly better, with 5 years/100,000 miles beating the Land Cruiser's 5 years/60,000 miles.

With a $5,000 increase in price, one would assume the Land Cruiser was more powerful under the hood, but that's not the case. The Escalade actually takes the cake with 403 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque compared to the Toyota at 381 hp and 401 lb-ft. Fuel economy is about even and both come with shiftable automatic transmissions.

Unfortunately for Toyota, the Land Cruiser doesn't really distinguish itself on the interior, either. A premium sound system and keyless ignition are nice features, but the Escalade counters with OnStar and navigation on the base model.

Ultimately, we can't justify paying so much extra for the Land Cruiser, giving the nod to the Cadillac Escalade.
