Buick to offer interactive drive system on 2011 Regal CXL Turbo 01/03/2011
The 2011 Buick Regal CXL Turbo will feature a system that allows drivers to change their vehicle's driving style at the push of a button.

The upscale sport sedan will feature the Interactive Drive Control System, which lets car owners switch between standard, touring and sport modes at will. The sport mode emphasizes road-holding capability for peak performance, while the touring style focuses on comfort and delivering a smooth ride. The standard mode offers a balance and works well in all driving situations.

"Interactive Drive Control links vehicle systems together, changing perceivable vehicle characteristics as it adapts to driver inputs," said Bill Rietlow, lead development engineer at General Motors. "The driver can really feel the difference."

Buick plans to bring the interactive system to other models, including the 2012 Regal GS, starting sometime later next year.

"By enabling drivers to tune their vehicle to their driving situation and even their mood, we're better able to exceed their expectations and provide a more satisfying driving experience," said Regal project manager Robert Casparian. "We fully expect to see this capability become more widely available in years to come."
