Buick Enclave vs Audi Q5 04/14/2011
Buick is sometimes forgotten about when it comes to luxury vehicles, but the company's Enclave crossover has received some solid reviews from the automotive press. To see if these were justified, we stacked the Enclave up against a close competitor, the Audi Q5, to see which offered drivers the better luxury experience.
The Q5 is just a bit cheaper than the Enclave, with a starting price tag of $35,200 compared to the Enclave's $35,615 sticker. General Motors backs the Buick with a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty, which beats the Q5's 4 year/50,000 mile pledge.
In terms of performance, the Enclave is superior, producing 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The Q5 can only manage 211 hp and 258 lb-ft. However, Audi wins the fuel economy battle with 20/27 mpgs compared to the Buick's 17/24.
On the interior, we prefer the Enclave, as it offers nice standard features like OnStar and Bluetooth connectivity. That being said, the Q5 does have some nice a la carte options such as a built-in hard drive and navigation system.
This is a tough call, but we give the edge to the Enclave, as the OnStar coupled with the longer warranty and increased power ultimately make up for the $400 difference in price.
