BMW wants to keep up with the competition in terms of technology 04/29/2011
As most Americans can attest that they're addicted to their smartphones, they want to have an extensive amount of connectivity.
While many luxury brands have been working to ensure that they offer the best technological advantages in their vehicles, less expensive brands such as Ford, Hyundai and Kia actually have the better connectivity features, according to USA Today.
However, the news provider reports that automakers such as BMW and Mercedes has been working to catch up to their competitors by increasing capability.
Bloomberg reports that BMW executives have been monitoring how much smartphones and other technological devices play a part in everyday life, which is why they're working to meet the needs of consumers.
"Mobile connectivity is playing an increasing role in all our lives," BMW sales chief Ian Robertson told the news provider. "These services will continue to grow. It’s a component of a competitive advantage."
The news provider continued that along with the name of the vehicle, consumers also pay for technological capabilities, which is why it is important to tap into this market.
