BMW showcases its new M5 model 04/15/2011
Although the BMW concept M5 vehicle will make its first official appearance at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show this month, the German car company recently released some information about the highly anticipated automobile, according to Edmunds Inside Line.

The new vehicle will be equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine that can generate about 580 hp and 530 lb-ft. This is an improvement from the 2011 X5 M and even the 2012 X6 M, which can produce 555 hp and 500-lb-ft, the news source reported.

The powertrain will be connected to a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission and can reach 60 miles per hour from rest in just 4.4 seconds. The car will also have a top speed of about 155 mph. To reduce fuel consumption, the engine will work with an automatic stop-start device, which will cut back on emissions by 25 percent, reported the news source.

Consumers who want to purchase the new M5 will have to wait until the fall. However, they can currently buy the 2010 M5, which costs $86,575 and offers a V10 engine that can generate 500 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
