Audi will only produce 333 2012 R8 GTs, and only 90 will be sold in the U.S. 08/10/2011
The 2012 Audi R8, which has been available since 2007, will be redesigned, inside and out. The biggest alterations for the new car, which will not enter the U.S. market until 2013, will take place under the hood, according to Top Speed. Audi will be gearing up a 5.2-liter V10 to deliver 533 horsepower with a unique seven-speed, dual clutch transmission for the higher end variations of the vehicle.

Edmunds.com reports that the engine sacrifices fuel efficiency for all that power, and the new car will only get 20 miles per gallon on the highway and 11 in the city. Starting around $114,000 for the V8 engine, the new car better have the features to back up its hefty cost.

Audi will put an engine similar to the S5's into the car that generates 444 hp, which is an improvement over the 2011 model's 424 hp. The car company also plans to update the GT and Spyder editions of the luxury sports car.

The GT is slated to sell for $196,800, and only 333 will be produced worldwide – with 90 making their way to American shores, according to Popular Mechanics.
