Audi A4 vs Lexus IS 250 03/31/2011
Drivers who only do a cursory glance of the features on the Lexus IS 250 and Audi A4 may be ready to immediately declare the IS 250 the clear winner, as it comes with a V6 engine while the A4 only rocks a four-cylinder. However, a closer glance reveals that the comparison of these two vehicles is actually a lot more complex.
In terms of pricing, the two models are very close. Audi's A4 retails for $32,300, while the Lexus IS 250 costs $32,645. The Lexus features a more comprehensive powertrain warranty at 7 years/60,000 miles, while the Audi only comes with coverage for 4 years/50,000 miles.
Under the hood is where things start to get interesting. As mentioned before, the Lexus has a V6, but it doesn't use it very efficiently, producing 204 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Audi's turbocharged inline-four receives 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Audi also gets better fuel economy at 22/30 mpgs, compared to the Lexus at 19/27.
Inside, we have to give the edge to the IS 250, as it features the Enform roadside assistance system, keyless ignition, Bluetooth and an iPod hookup all standard.
In the end, we still give the edge to the Lexus - although it's closer than drivers might immediately assume.
