Aston Martin releases new Vantage S 01/28/2011
Luxury carmaker Aston Martin has unveiled the Vantage S, a powered-up version of the V8 Vantage, reports Automobile Magazine.
Under the hood of the Vantage S lies a seven-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission, an upgrade from the standard model's automatic six-speed unit. Gear changes in the Vantage S's transmission are reportedly 20 percent faster, and the upgrade also likely means that the car will improve on the standard version's 14 city/20 highway miles per gallon fuel efficiency.
The new car is powered by a V8 engine that provides 430 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. Other additions, including a faster steering rack ratio and larger front brake discs with six-piston front brake calipers, help give drivers more control over the vehicle.
"The Vantage S epitomizes every attribute of the V8 Vantage and pushes the driver experience beyond what we have offered before," Dr. Ulrich Bez, chief executive officer of Aston Martin, told the source. "It combines dynamic exhilaration with all the charming finesse, beauty and practicality already associated with the Vantage range."
