American drivers will have to wait until 2014 to get behind the wheel of the Audi A6 Hybrid. 07/26/2011
Audi recently revealed the full specs for the 2012 A6 hybrid, but the new car will not reach the U.S. until 2014. Many American drivers were looking forward to the arrival of Audi's hybrid car but the late release date could have a negative impact on the sales performance, SpeedLux reports. The European release date was also pushed back from the end of this year to some time in 2012.

The German hybrid vehicle will be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 40 kilowatt motor that have a combined output of 245 horsepower, not bad for a hybrid car. Car and Driver reports that the A6 will get a combined average of 37 miles per gallon. If the new car runs out of gas, the small electric motor can drive almost two miles, as long as the speed stays below 40 miles per hour.

The car has three drive modes - electricity-prioritizing, normal and sporty, which put the focus on the electric motor, both engines and the gas engine respectively. It also climbs from zero to 60 mph in just over seven seconds, and its top speed is about 148 mph.
