Acura TSX vs Nissan Maxima 03/11/2011
The Acura TSX and Nissan Maxima are two sedan offerings from rival Japanese manufacturers that both have a starting price close to $30,000. We put them head-to-head to see which ultimately offered drivers the better value.

There's a bit of a gap in price between the two, with the base model Maxima starting at $30,830 and the TSX at $29,610.

Still, the Maxima makes up that price difference quite quickly, mainly because it offers a V6 engine while the TSX sticks with a four cylinder. The Maxima boasts 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque, but the TSX can only offer 201 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. While the TSX does offer a V6, the cheapest model that carries the engine costs more than $35,000.

On the inside, the Maxima comes with keyless ignition standard, a feature that's not even available on the TSX. However, we'd give the interior edge to Acura, as their model features an iPod dock, leather seating and satellite radio all standard.

Ultimately, drivers will have to decide if the nearly $1,200 increase in price between the two vehicles is worth it to upgrade from an inline-four engine to a V6. We think so, which is why we give the nod to the Nissan Maxima.
