A peek inside Shaquille O'Neal's garage 06/06/2011
After 19 seasons in the NBA, Shaquille O'Neal is finally calling it quits, electing to retire after a long and distinguished career that will most likely land him in the Hall of Fame.
O'Neal will not only be remembered for his tremendously high level of play, but also his many nicknames: "Diesel," "The Big Cactus," "The Big Leprechaun" and of course, "Shaq." Standing at 7'1 and weighing 325 pounds, he was one of the largest men to ever play in the NBA.
Shaq's humorous attitude and celebrity status meant he got a lot of attention off the court, and he has been photographed in a number of high-end vehicles over the year. To pay tribute to the big man, we'll take a look at some of his most memorable rides over the years.
One of the first times that the world got a chance to see Shaq's unique lifestyle was on an early episode of "MTV Cribs." The center, then playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, cracked wise throughout the entire segment, but it was his house and cars that was likely most memorable to viewers. Who could forget Shaq's massive custom-made circular bed that measured 15 by 30 feet across?
Since Shaq is so tall, his rides require a little "tweaking." On the "Cribs" episode, Shaq introduced us to his "convertible forever," a Ferrari 360 Modena. Shaq had to cut the top off "forever" simply so he could sit in the vehicle. The NBA star also had a Bentley and custom Hummer.
Later in life, Shaq was spotted in a wide variety of rides. Perhaps the most interesting was an all-black Dodge SRT-8 Charger, with a custom widebody so that the basketball star had enough space.
Now that he's done with basketball, we can only imagine what Shaq will do next - but whatever it is, it'll likely be in style.
