A peek inside Arnold Schwarzenegger's garage 05/12/2011
Arnold Schwarzenegger earned some headlines today when the former Governor of California announced that he and wife Maria Shriver would be splitting after more than 25 years of marriage. Unlike many failed Hollywood romances, the break-up was said to be amicable and the couple has not officially filed for divorce yet, but Shriver is moving out as they work on the next steps in their relationship.
With the country getting a peek inside Schwarzenegger's marriage today, we decided to take a somewhat lighter tone and take a peek inside the action star's garage. Schwarzenegger is known to be a big gearhead, and has a huge collection of both cars and motorcycles that he's been frequently spotted in around Los Angeles.
Schwarzenegger has driven and flown all sorts of military vehicles for his many movies, so it's no surprise that the actor owns several variations on this theme. In fact, it was Schwarzenegger who bought the first-ever civilian Hummer made in 1992, and he's since expanded his collection to include more of the large vehicles. Schwarzenegger has also bought some old military jeeps, which he's humorously been spotted in on trips to the supermarket. After being elected governor, the actor made a show of converting some of his Hummers to run on alternative energy, as green living was a platform of his campaign.
While the former Governator probably looks most at home behind the wheel of a Hummer or Jeep, lately he's been going for more refined fare. After leaving office, Celebrity Cars Blog snagged a photo of Schwarzenegger being ticketed for driving a bit too fast in his Porsche 911 Turbo. We're guessing he talked his way out of that one. Lately, he's been opting for a Bentley Continental Supersports, a convertible version with a black exterior and red interior.
