2011 Jeep Compass gets upgraded styling, capabilities and price 12/13/2010
New rumors indicate that the 2011 Jeep Compass is getting a serious upgrade in terms of styling and capabilities - as well as in terms of price.

Auto Blog reports that the front-wheel drive version of the 2011 model will start from $19,995, while the four-wheel drive incarnation will be priced at $21,695. For comparison, the 2010 Compass bottoms out at $15,365, meaning that this year's base version represents at least a 33 percent markup.

Meanwhile, the Jeep Patriot, which shares a platform with the Compass and represents the lowest tier of Jeep's offerings, will keep its lower price, with the 2011 model selling for $15,995.

The new price range for the Compass, however, comes with some perks. The vehicle is suspected to be Trail Rated for the first time, meaning that it will likely have dedicated low-range gears and a continuously variable transmission. The car is also rumored to have repositioned rebound springs similar to those found in the more upscale Jeep Grand Cherokee.

When combined with the new sleeker exterior styling, the source suggests that the increased price on the 2011 Compass is likely worth it, placing it above the Patriot in terms of desirability.
