2011 Infiniti M56 boasts much improved fuel efficiency  07/05/2010
Earlier this spring, officials with Infiniti released fuel economy estimates for their 2011 M56 performance sedan, which has increased by 4 miles per gallon compared to last year's model.

The '11 M56 will deliver 25 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the city, which is especially impressive considering Infiniti's luxury sedan is powered by a 420 hp 5.6-liter V8 engine capable of producing 417 pound-feet of torque. With the improved fuel efficiency, the M56 will no longer be subject to the gas guzzler tax that was assessed on the 2010 model.

"It's an impressive feat of engineering to not only gain 95 horsepower and 81 ft-lb of torque while also improving fuel efficiency by up to 4 mpg for the new V8," said Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti Business Unit. "Most of all, however, we think buyers will be impressed by the smooth, responsive performance of the new V8."

The powertrain of the M56 is equipped with a Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) and a seven-speed automatic transmission with manumatic shifting. All 2011 Infiniti M-class vehicles will go on sale later this spring.
